URSULINE
COMPANIONS

The Ursuline Sisters of Cincinnati, committed to exploring an alternative way to pass on the legacy, ministry, and the charism of Saint Angela in Church, families and society, envisioned a new branch of their community. In 2019, A dedicated group of laywomen was invited to come together to discern how best to respond to Angela’s admonition to “meet the needs of the times” and plant new seeds, keeping the Cincinnati Ursuline mission and ministry alive for future generations. On October 4, 2021, after almost three years of preparation, members pledged their commitment as Ursuline Companions.  Foundational pillars of  Identity, Legacy and Governance advance the vision of St. Angela through community participation, spiritual development and ministry opportunities. Since St. Angela’s 16th century inception of the Ursulines, work in the vineyard of the Catholic Church has evolved from relational experiences of its members. St. Angela was a visionary, seeing the need for both pruning and grafting to maintain the vitality of God’s vineyard.  The history, spirituality and ministries of the Ursulines of Cincinnati remain firmly rooted, intertwined and fruitful with the Ursuline Companions.
